He spent 27 years in captivity between 1964 and 1990 for the revolution he headed for the rights of the black people in South Africa. He went on to become the first black president of the country and served as the head executive between 1994 and 1999. Moreover, he was the first president of the nation who was elected in a comprehensive democratic election. He also served as the President of African National Congress between 1991 and 1997. The great leader fought against poverty, suppression of black people and injustice.

The entire global community celebrates the birth of this great anti-apartheid leader from South Africa. The celebrations send the message that every human being can bring about a positive transformation in the world, irrespective of caste, color, and creed.
