Rockers Movement joins Inity Weekly annually in celebrating Nelson Mandela Day in Denver. It is a celebration of peace and love in recognition of the Icon Nelson Mandela otherwise known as Madiba. The event consists of poetry, art and live music. A night remembering the icon and the beacon of hope he has been. Join us in honoring him.

Nelson Mandela International Day was launched in recognition of Nelson Mandela’s birthday on July 18, 2009 by a unanimous decision of the U.N. General Assembly. It was inspired by a call Nelson Mandela made one year earlier, for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices.

The overarching objective of Mandela Day is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good. Ultimately it seeks to empower communities everywhere. “Take Action; Inspire Change; Make Every Day a Mandela Day.” The day remembers Mandela’s achievements in working towards conflict resolution, democracy, human rights, peace, and reconciliation. Also a global call to action for people to recognize their ability to have a positive effect on others around them. The day hopes to inspire people to embrace the values that Mandela shared. These values include democracy, freedom, equality, diversity, peace, love, reconciliation, and respect. The day remembers Mandela’s achievements in working towards conflict resolution, democracy, human rights, peace, and reconciliation.

We have and will feature international and local acts that instill positive and intelligent lyrics into their music, which will top off the enriching experience. It is a celebration and memorial to Nelson Mandela, the South African leader. An icon that reminds us everywhere on a philosophy for a better world.
